Painting, text on the walls of the abandoned railway booth
Zemo Nikozi, Georgia
I gathered these words and paintings from villagers of Zemo Nikozi in return for the portraits I drew for them. Some of them were very young and some had grandchildren. The process was about fulfilling the mutual expectations that the villagers and the artist might have towards each other. The expected to paint the portraits from the artist and for me the stories were important.
After the exchange process I decided to copy everything on the walls of the abandoned railway booth. The booth is now standing along the blocked railway to Tskhinvali. Tskhinvali region is occupied by Russia since 2008 war between Russia and Georgia. The villagers live along the demarcation line until now.
Favourite Things art project was realised during the 5th edition of Off/Line project in Zemo Nikozi by Art as Foundation.
